Lewis, who is associated with the Provo Community Congregational United Church of Christ, noted that Vlado is from Kiev, Ukraine, and was the one who painted the historical A-frame church in downtown Provo. An interfaith band, which will include Mary Pobanz, Alex Tarazon, Alex McAlpin, John Davis, Paul Grass and a “famous” local musician disclosed the night of the event, will also be playing Christian worship music throughout the night, according to spokesperson Dave Lewis. In addition to the show, the artists will be sharing an image of Jesus Christ and sharing their own testimonies of his work. They will all be showcased at the upcoming Utah Valley event. The church paintings were created by visual artists from around the world including Paul Grass (a founder of the academy), John Stadler, Margaret Zylla, Miko Vlado, Carrie Sutter, Abbey Murphy and Amanda Blackwood. The academy has been serving communities by teaching classes and creating art shows intended to bring people closer to Christ for over 10 years. The school offers youth and adult classes both online and in person and hosts art and music shows every four months.Īs a tradition, when the academy opens a new chapter, it selects seven churches within the local area and invites artists of all faiths to create artwork of these church buildings.įor this exhibit, the academy selected Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Provo Bible Church, Fellowship Bible Church, the Lindon Community Center, Provo Community Congregational United Church of Christ, Saint Mary’s Episcopal Church and the CenterPoint Church to be painted as part of the opening.
